FOH Workflow Guide

A practical pre-service checklist for church sound engineers.

This checklist gives beginner and intermediate engineers a clear order for the hour before service. It keeps the focus on what usually causes problems: power order, wireless, routing, output feeds, room coverage, and the final handoff before the first cue.

When should FOH checks start?

Start about 60 minutes before service if the system is already built and patched. Larger services, volunteer-heavy teams, or new setups need more time.

What should be checked before service?

Confirm the system powers on correctly, wireless packs have fresh batteries, important inputs are passing signal, outputs are feeding the right destinations, and the room sounds consistent from more than one seat.

Is this the same as a line check?

No. A line check confirms that inputs land where expected. A pre-service checklist confirms the system is ready for people, playback, broadcast, and the first moment of service.
