PHASE 1: POWER THE SYSTEM

Power on the system in order: console and stagebox first. Power on the PA next: amps, speakers, subs, and fills. Load the correct scene or show file and check for changes from the last event. Confirm FOH and stage talkbacks work, headphones can hear soloed channels, and console meters show incoming signal.

PHASE 2: INPUTS AND WIRELESS

Replace batteries in every wireless mic, headset, lav, and IEM pack. Turn on every transmitter and confirm clean RF, correct receiver name, and no muted packs. Test each vocal mic at the capsule and confirm clean signal, correct channel, and no pack or console mute. Check wired mics, DIs, instrument lines, tracks, and playback inputs land on the correct channels. Place spare mic, spare XLR, fresh batteries, and tape where you can reach them fast.

PHASE 3: GAIN, ROUTING, AND OUTPUTS

Confirm key inputs are receiving signal: lead vocal, speaker mic, tracks, playback, and primary instruments. Set preamp gain with headroom. Watch input, bus, matrix, and main meters for clipping. Confirm channel labels, mute groups, DCAs, and scene safes match the event plan. Send the right mix to Main LR, subs, fills, monitors or IEMs, lobby, overflow, recording, video, and broadcast. Test playback, walk-in music, announcement mic, and speaker mic through the exact outputs they need.

PHASE 4: SOUND CHECK AND ROOM WALK

Build a quick mix with lead vocal, speech mic, band, tracks, and playback in context. Ask each vocalist, musician, and speaker if their monitor or IEM mix is usable. Walk front, middle, back, sides, and balcony while audio plays. Listen for harsh spots or weak coverage. Check broadcast or video feed on headphones or a reference speaker, not just console meters. Ring out or lower risky open mics before doors or service start.

PHASE 5: THE "GO"

10 Minutes Before Service

Mute every unused channel and leave only the first required mics or playback sources ready. Load walk-in music, opener track, announcement audio, or first cue at the right level. Confirm pastor, host, or worship leader mic is tested, unmuted, and physically in position. Arm recording, livestream, and video destinations. Confirm they are receiving clean audio. Final scan: battery levels, RF meters, output meters, mute groups, talkback, and first scene. Stop tweaking. Only change something if it protects the room or fixes a real problem.
